Banjarmasin
Abundant with wide and mighty rivers, Banjarmasin (the biggest city in South Kalimantan, Indonesia) is sometimes called the 'River City.' The waterways have always played a significant role in the Banjarese way of life. Every morning, the floating markets are a hive of activities as farmers and merchants ply their goods on boats. The rivers are also used as main venues for boat races and other festivities. The main attractions are the waterlogged suburbs traversed by canals, where much of the city's commerce takes place. More locals are also boarding up their back porches to bathe in the rivers without fear of prying eyes and snapping cameras.
